The 2022 Indian Premier League (IPL) has been a long and demanding season for Delhi Capitals (DC) as they have struggled with various off-field issues. At the start of the competition many of their overseas players arrived later and since then they have suffered various illness and injury issues. Moreover, they have had multiple COVID-19 outbreaks with both players and support staff effected which forced them to undergo extensive quarantine and the venues of two matches to be changed. Despite the constant problems, DC have managed to keep themselves alive in the race to qualify for the playoffs. They closed the gap to fourth-placed Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) on Wednesday (May 11) with a comprehensive eight-wicket victory over Rajasthan Royals (RR) at the Dy Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai. With two matches left, the Rishabh Pant-led outfit will believe they have their hopes in their owns hands. After the all-round performance vs RR, morales are clearly high in the DC camp. The 2020 runner's-up head-coach Ricky Ponting was seen joining his players in a fun session of playing football. Both Ponting and the DC playing squad were seen in extremely good spirits during the training activity. Earlier skipper Rishabh Pant had confirmed he was suffering from typhoid. Shaw had missed Pant & Co.'s last three games because of the illness which forced him to stay in hospital. "It's not looking great. I don't know exactly his diagnosis but he's had this underlying fever for the last two weeks now which they have to really get to the bottom of to find out exactly what it was. I don't know exactly what the diagnosis is but it's not looking great for him to be available for us for the last few games," Watson told the Grade Cricketer Podcast.
