New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Thursday ordered Centre to file a status report in a case related to missing defence personnel. A bench of Justices DY Chandrachud, Surya Kant, and PS Narasimha told Centre's counsel to file an updated status report on the issue. The Centre in its recent affidavit filed in the court said that 83 defence personnel are missing and these include 62 prisoners from 1965 and 1971 wars with Pakistan. The government told the court that it has been seeking the release and repatriation of these soldiers from Pakistan through diplomatic and other channels, according to a report in PTI. In her plea, Kamla has urged the court to order the government to bring her son back using the diplomatic channel. Sanjit's mother claimed that she got information that her son is lodged in Pakistan's Lakhpat Jail. Sanjit had got commission in the army as an officer in Gorkha regiment. Sanjit's family said they got information that their soldier son had gone for patrolling in the Rann of Kutch along the Pakistan border. He was reportedly caught by Pakistani authorities during the operation.
