Jammu: At least four people died and 20 others were injured after a bus caught fire near Katra in Jammu, confirmed police on Friday. The fire has been completely doused while the injured have been moved to nearby hospitals.According to ADGP Jammu, a bus number JK 14/1831 was on its way from Katra to Jammu when it caught fire. The accident happened near Kharmal, about 1.5 km from Katra.As per preliminary details, the fire broke out from the engine and soon engulfed the whole bus, sending the onboard passengers into a frenzy.Fire tenders and a forensic team were immediately rushed to the spot. The fire has been successfully doused, as per latest reports.According to the ADGP Jammu, four people have died so far in the accident. Two were declared brought dead while the other two died while undergoing treatment.Three passengers have been referred for specialised treatment after sustaining severe burn injuries. A total of 20 persons were injured in the accident.Union Minister Jitendra Singh has assured every possible help to the injured who have been currently shifted to Naraina Hospital in Jammu.The accident has come two days after at least 30 persons were injured when a passenger bus turned upside down after it collided with a truck in Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir.The accident took place near Khandli village and all the injured were rushed to Government Medical College (GMC) Rajouri for treatment.
